html form data not saved when using browser back button.

To a page with many html scroll boxes and such, I added a button that pops up a calender.  If the user ever uses this feature then clicks the button that takes them to the next page, When they hit the browser back button all their selections have been undone.
If they never use the calender object; When they come back to the page their selections are not undone.
It is important that these selections are not undone, is there a way around this issue?

I have not spotted anything in the calender code that would cause issues.  Theres no scripting errors on the page.  If the user types text in the text box that the calender button populates, the page still retains its data when the browser back button is used.
