Two events fired on one action. confusing.

Hai all,

I have number of text boxes on a page. And as per requirements, i have to validate the value entered in the text box as soon as the user leaves that text box ( by tabbing) to the next one. So, i use "onblur = return performCheck1();"

Upon submission of the form, i have a Javascript which checks for any possible blank text fields in the page ! This is done on the submit button's "onclick = return performCheck2()"

THE PROBLEM :

when a user is in a text box and hits enter instead of tabbing, two events are fired. Both the ONBLUR of that text box and ONCLICK of submit button (Enter key is actually firing the form submission). While that is very good, the order in which these two events are fired are unpredictable ! If i have any alert boxes in both these functions, the order is ONBLUR - > ONCLICK, if i dont have any alert boxes, the order becomes ONCLICK -> ONBLUR , and as you might have guessed, After ONCLICK the form gets submitted and hence no ONBLUR is executed.

In any case, i want ONBLUR and then ONCLICK (of submit button) to get executed in that order ! Is it possible ? any ideazzzz pls ??
