The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

odd js undefined error

Hi,

I have a page that a user enters an address into and it goes and finds the lat and long for that address. The code for this section is reused around the site (unfortunately its an intranet so I have just taken the html for you to see the code.).  When they click the validate button, it pops up a window, and if a result is found enters the values in the parent and closes the window. Works fine on one, but not on the other why?

The code for the address part of the user form is identical as it uses a php include.

The js we focus on here is in the popup, should push the lat and long into the appropriate place on the parent form, and close the window.

<script>
      function updateLatLong(longitude,latitude){
            window.opener.surveyInput.sit_longitude.value = longitude;
            window.opener.surveyInput.sit_latitude.value = latitude;
            window.opener.surveyInput.addressValidated.value = 1;
            window.opener.surveyInput.validateAddress.disabled = 1;
            window.opener.surveyInput.validateAddress.value = 'Validated!';
            window.close();
      }
      //alert(window.opener.surveyInput);
      updateLatLong(151.27885045,-33.79528801);
</script>

Note the pages wont render right as I havent included images and other js.

scenario 1: included in another form: http://www.sixfive.co.uk/wizz/wizzjsproblem/index.html this calls http://www.sixfive.co.uk/wizz/wizzjsproblem/found.html on click of validate.

Gets js error: Error: window.opener.newSiteSurvey has no properties
Source file: http://local.wizz.com.au/crm/index.php?fuseaction=shared.getCoords&address1=1+parkview+road&address2=&suburb=fairlight&postcode=2094&state=NSW&formName=newSiteSurvey
Line: 53

scenario2: only the include as a form, http://www.sixfive.co.uk/wizz/wizzjsproblem/index2.html this calls http://www.sixfive.co.uk/wizz/wizzjsproblem/found2.html on click of validate. This js on found2.html works fine and closes the window whilst entering the lat and long into the form on the parent.
