Question

Javascript Select All checkbox

Asked by: hiranya

Hi.

I have 2 tabular forms regions  in my web page and both have 'Select  All' checkboxes in the header .  I am using following Javascript (in region header ) to check/clear all the records in the tabular form
(I am using Oracle HTMLDB to develop this application)

******************************************************************
<script type="text/javascript">
function ToggleAll(e)  {
         if (e.checked) {
                 CheckAll();
             }
         else {
              ClearAll();
         }
         }

function Check(e) {
         e.checked = true;
}

function Clear(e) {
         e.checked = false;
}

function CheckAll() {
         var ml = document.wwv_flow;
         var len = ml.elements.length;

         for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) {
              var e = ml.elements[i];
              if (e.name == "f01") {
                 Check(e);
              }
        }
   ml.f01.checked = true;
}

function ClearAll() {

         var ml = document.wwv_flow;
         var len = ml.elements.length;

         for (var i = 0; i < len; i++)  {
              var e = ml.elements[i];
              if (e.name == "f01")  {
                  Clear(e);
              }
         }
         ml.f01.checked = false;
}
</script>

******************************************************************

Problem is if I click the check box in one region, it fills in ALL check boxes on both regions.
Can we change the process, so if we click the check box in one region, it only fills in check boxes in that region?

and here is you current script vastly simplified

function ToggleAll(chk)  {
  var checked = chk.checked;
  var ml = chk.form;
  var len = ml.elements.length;
  for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) {
    var elem = ml.elements[i];
    if (elem.name == "f01") elem.checked = checked;
  }
}

What we need to pass chk.  ----> function ToggleAll(chk)

by: mplungjanPosted on 2007-07-11 at 06:20:10ID: 19462289

same as before. Just "e" is not a great name for a checkbox. It is mainly used for (event)

so I expect you have
<input type="checkbox" onClick="ToggleAll(this)">check all

by: hiranyaPosted on 2007-07-11 at 06:46:34ID: 19462532

Yes, I am using this :
<input type="checkbox" name="f25" value="" onclick="ToggleAll(this)">

I used your code instead of my one. but the problem still there...

<script
type="text/javascript"> function ToggleAll(chk)  {
  var checked = chk.checked;
  var ml = chk.form;
  var len = ml.elements.length;
  for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) {
    var elem = ml.elements[i];
    if (elem.name == "f25") elem.checked = checked;
  }
}
</script>

I cannot help you until you post some html for the two regions as requested earlier

You gotta be kidding...

I will have a look, but I do not have any of the JS files so I have to remove all scripts

Here...

And next time perhaps just paste me a sample?

Thanks

Hi,
Thank you very much for the script.  Problem is I can't change item name like this (f30). b'cos there are lots of processes (in my HTMLDB page) based on this item name. B'cos I need to keep item name as it is.
once again thank you very much.

Change the class and test for className or add an attribute of your own and test for elem.getAttribute('yourattribute')
PS: You are aware that your page is ridiculously large?

Hi,

Yes, It's a very complex page. Actually I have done this page using Oracle HTMLDB.  I was able to solve the problem using second method.
I have put a hidden item in my tabular form and comparing that hidden item's value before check the ckeckbox.
