The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

IE7 p3p headers across iframes and domains

Asked by mkirank in JavaScript, Internet Explorer Web Browser

Tags: , ,

I have 2 domains (domain1 and domain2), On domain1 I have a html page that calls domain2 using iframe,

Domain2  (accessed by using a  subdomain like a.b.domain2.com)  sets 2 session cookie and onunload of the page there is a javascript that updates those cookies with a new values.

The problem I am facing is when the cookie is accessed IE7, it blocks the cookie or it dosent update the cookie with the new value .  The problem is definitely in javascript  (I have debugged with  alert messages and can see the values from the server).. the javascript code is  document.cookie = (name=value;domain=domain2.com;) have also tried different variations like .*.domain2.com

I have tried the following

1. Setting the cookie with domain and path .(both on server and using javascript).
2. Domain2 sends out P3P headers
3. I have tried to set a different cookie with some value but even that does not get set .

I have watched the session using fiddler and It seems to send back the cookies with the old values . The problem seems to be because its a session cookie
This is working fine in IE6 and FF.

Does anyone have any ideas on solving this issue.Start Free Trial
