Question

expand/collapse news articles

Asked by: rcmb

I have a list of news items that is database driven. I need the ability to have the user click "+" next to the headline to show the actual article. When they click the "+" changes to "-". If they click the "-" the article collapses.

If the click on any other "+" to view a different article then the any other open/expanded article is collapsed automatically.

Make sense?

I am not a novice but not an expert so I can understand most of what you give me.

Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.

Great job----take a look at athletics.rcc.edu and see your handiwork in action.

Thanks for the quick turnaround.

>>take a look at athletics.rcc.edu and see your handiwork in action.
I did. I also noticed:
a. You seemed to have incorporated the javascript code twice, one after the other. Not sure why
b.The site uses:
http://illinoislottery.com/images/closed.gif
http://illinoislottery.com/images/open.gif

which I referenced on the code I gave you. I was expecting you to save a copy of those images to your server and modify the code so that it references YOUR copy of those images. If you leave it as is, you will not know when that other site moves/changes the image and yet, your site will "suffer the consequences". I STRONGLY suggest you save a copy of them on your server.

Take care.

Good catch on the double code. I have fixed that. As for the images I planned on copying them just had not got around to it yet. I was just getting everything working before I started my clean up.

Thanks again for your help.
