Need to set focus after AJAX response

Hi

I'll try to keep this short and sweet because I am pretty sure it's ridiculously easy.

on the 5th field on a form, user enters a postal code. on blur it's looked up in MySQL table and a country, province/state, city, land and mobile area codes are also retrieved as part of a JSON array which is 'parsed'

If the postal/zip code is found it sets the country, prov/state, city and area codes as text inputs (area codes may be select lists if more than one for the city).

If the postal/zip code isn't found, select lists are returned for country and prov/state, the rest are empty input texts.

Finally to the problem.

If the code is found, the focus returns to the postal code field.
If the code isn't found, the focus is put on the first field on the form.

I need to set the focus on the country field in both cases. The two different results from basically the same process has me befuddled. Little help?

I'm not bogging this all down with code but I can if it would be helpful. Every thing works fine, but I assume I will need some sort of _____.focus() added to the attached function...
