Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Calling a javascript function in a textbox

Hi guys i hope u r well and can assist.

I have 2 files im using.
1. functions.js
2. index.php

What Im trying to do is to insert the current time in hours, minutes and seconds (by using a function from functions.js called showtime())  into a form's textbox in index.php, but im not sure what the correct syntax is.

The function is fine, Im just not sure how to run and display the output of the function in a textbox in index.php.

Guys I can display the time in the texbox by doing the following..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- index.php
<html>
<script src="functions.js"></script>
<form name="Tick">
<input type="text" size="12" name="Clock" onClick="javascript:showtime()"> </form>
</html>
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But I have to keep clicking the textbox.
I want this to be seen on page load and update to show the correct time just by loading the page.
How else do i call this function instead of using the onclick event?
Any help on syntax on this would be greatly appreciated.
