The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

there are minor problems in the above two answers:
- they missed the "inv2" element, causing one of the getElementById resulting "undefined"
- elements are from "inv0" to "inv20" (not up to "inv19" in the question)
- the result text field is not called "invTotal"

made some minor change, see my code (tested on IE already)

>>I do not agree that my suggestion was much related to his suggestion other than some of the html
Agree. That's why I ended with "You guys did not have to type much".

>>all i saw was the missing inv2 but didnt look at the rest of the code,  how do i fix it.
If you are referring to mplungjan's post you just need to add another input:
...<input type="text" name="inv1"  value="0"><br/><br/>
   <input type="text" name="inv2"  value="0">
   <input type="text" name="inv3"  value="0">...

The same thing with my original post:
...<input type="text" id="inv1" value="0.00" onchange="sumThem()"/>
      <input type="text" id="inv2" value="0.00" onchange="sumThem()"/>
      <input type="text" id="inv3" value="0.00" onchange="sumThem()"/>...

mplungjan, im not sure i know what you mean, you brought me to the section about when more than one person answers the question correctly, but the others have technically incorrect code, they fail in one of these areas

- they missed the "inv2" element, causing one of the getElementById resulting "undefined"
- elements are from "inv0" to "inv20" (not up to "inv19" in the question)
- the result text field is not called "invTotal"

Did you see my solution?

- takes all fields called invXX and sums them into a field called invTotal
- generates the code to do this onload avoiding the need to put code on each field

Well to be fair, I was the one who originally posted AND missed
<input type="text" id="inv2" value="0.00" onchange="sumThem()"/>

clearly everyone else borrowed from my original post and made slight chages. Had the I OR the posted noticed the missing <input type="text" id="inv2" value="0.00" onchange="sumThem()"/> and added it, my post would have worked. So it is fair to say I too helped. You guys did not have to type much.

Although I agree that Hielo should have some points for starting you off, I do not agree that my suggestion was much related to his suggestion other than some of the html. The suggestion is a completely rewritten solution using form access and event handler replacement. Also it was tested and worked even when perpetuating the missing inv02
