The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. JavaScript strip alpha character from field.

Zone: JavaScript
I have field data "4.1C"  or  "4.1H".  This alpha code lets me send the data to the proper subFields for calculation.  I need to strip off the "C" or "H" to get "4.1".  The evaluation works, I can send the data to the subField OK, but I can't strip off the alpha characters. (Just testing with the "C")

When I uncomment the line  "mainField.replace (regExp, "")" nothing works.

From what you posted, you needed
var regExp = /C/i;

and this would have worked:
mainField.replace (regExp, "")

but note, when you replace, mainField still contains the old value. If you need the "new" value you need to "catch" the result:
mainField = mainField.replace (regExp, "")

It sounds like your mainField is a field reference rather than a string value. Try this:

I see what's going on now.  And, it works. But, I need the mainField value to stay 4.1C.

I might be able to get there now, but if you see a simple rearrangement that would work, I'd appreciate it.
