How can I get javascript to populate address fields when a checkbox is checked?

Hello,
I have a form (billing information) which has a checkbox labeled "same as shipping info". When the user clicks it I want the billing information to auto-populated with the data from the shipping form on the previous page. I have the data stored, and can easily retrieve it, what I need is someone to provide me with some working code so that I can see how this works.
