The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

selectable images/radio button replacements

Asked by xill2678 in JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Ok I've searched through many many different sites and an exhaustive list of related EE search results, but still havent found what im looking for. Some methods seem to be very close, but I couldnt get them to work for me (i dont really write js, so im a bit out of my realm here to begin with).

Anyhow, what I'm trying to achieve:

I have a form with many different sets of radio buttons, but to make things easier for the user, I want to change those radio buttons from the browser-generated defaults, to a descriptive image that acts the same as the radio button. There's alot of similar scripts out there, but here is where my goal is a bit different than the out-of-the-box solutions available. I'd like different images for different radio buttons within the same group. For example, one set of radio buttons has four options (up, down, left, & right). Instead of showing four radio buttons with the text beside the button, I'd rather use four different images of arrows pointing up, down, left, or right. Much easier for my target audience to interact with.

Important points: Different groups of radio buttons would use different images. One group might be 4 images of arrows in different directions, another group might be 6 different images of flowers. I'd also need a way to set a certain image/radio button to "selected", as this form works with my database to save the choices and display the selected choices the next time the user visits.

What i'm looking for would be more a switching of css classes so that I can assign selected, deselected, and hover classes using background image sprites rather than different images.

Can someone point me in the right direction for this? I've been searching off and on for several months now with no luck.....
