The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Copying the contents of a variable to the clipboard

Hi,

I develop and extend a system used internally to a company which is a web based application. I don't have access to the code that builds the page but I can add in javascript that run onload for the page and field level script that run onchange. One of the screen shows a company address but it is not held in one field but is aross several. I have been asked if it is possible to put a link on the page that copies the whole address to the clipboard so it can be pasted into a letter for example. I can easily use javascript to do this but because the address is not held in a textarea I thought I would add an onload script that built the address up as a single string and stored it in a variable. Then if the user clicked the link, the contents of the variable would be copied to the clipboard. Trouble is, I can't find any examples of this. I have done plenty of javascript before where the contents of a text box or textarea is copied to the clipboard but I can't think of a way of doing this for the life of me. Each field on the screen has a unique ID if that would help with suggestions.

Thanks,

Lee
