The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Calender popup to populate a text box with date - trying to customize code for my site

I use a javascript based calender popup to populate a textbox with a date - works great, but I have recently encountered a new challenge which has become a little problem.

This is a simplified form I am using:

<form action="mypage.cfm" name="frmcomm" method="post">
          <input type="text" name="vdate" readonly size="10">
          <a href="javascript:caldateonly.popup();">
          <img class="noprint" src="../images/cal.gif" width="17px" height="17px" alt="Show Calender"></a>
</form>

This is the internal js code:

          var caldateonly = new calendar2(document.forms['frmcomm'].elements['vdate']);
          caldateonly.year_scroll = true;
          caldateonly.time_comp = false;

There also is an external js file that I link to, and an html file that is the calender popup.

My problem is that the internal js refers to the form and textbox NAME

var caldateonly = new calendar2(document.forms['frmcomm'].elements['vdate']);

In this case, I need it to refer to the textbox ID, not the NAME

eg. var caldateonly = new calendar2(document.forms['frmcomm'].id['vdate']);

I tried the above and of course it didn't work.  IS there any way to change the code above to look for the textbox ID rather than the name?  I can post the external js code if necessary.
