Run small program with commandline parameters

Dear All,

Probably a FAQ entry but i have no time to look it up.

I'm asked to run from a small external program a browser with a few parameters added to the line

i have it working from vb script but they need javascript and i can't get it work

i tried

<SCRIPT language="JavaScript">
function PROCTest() {
 document.location.href = "O:\\myfolder\\u2w.exe%20U#somestring#123";
}
</SCRIPT>

which gives me > O:\myfolder\u2w.exe%20U#somestring#123 in the url box and an error

starting without the "%20U#somestring#123" part it works but it needs that part :-)

so i can't do this OR there is something i miss because of limited webscripting knowledge

you need to use activex to run an exe file. see below

thanks for that cem_turk

however, i get the same error, can't find the file or some parts needed to run the program

again it runs without the parameters

the only workaround i can get working is doing it from a batch file but that is a last resort before handing this back to the other side

any ideas?

use executeCommands("the parameters") to run the below script. it is taken from the working example from http://www.csgnetwork.com/directrunexe2.html

yeah thanks i changed that already

so now i have 3 working solutions with activex, but i need to change my browser security settings (not sure if that's an option)

i have one wokring alternative to do it without activex (that is the batch file)

since i was only asked to design and build the exe that's being called i limit my search for now, but i still would like an alternative using the document.href and be able to pass in the parameters directly
