hidden field security

On page load I add a value in hidden <input>.
When a user clicks a button this value is used to access some information.
Can the user somehow alter the value in the hidden field so that when the button is clicked the original value that was set on page load has changed, for example from 2 to 3?

Yes he can do it. Such solution is not secure at all.

In Opera you can view the source and edit right from there, then apply the changes. It updates automatically without even reloading. In Google Chrome and Safari for Windows, right clicking has an "Inspect Element" option. This brings up a Webkit DOM tool where you can edit and apply changes immediately.
