Question

How do I get a client's country through their IP address with Google API?

I need to hide certain products that are not allowed to be sold outside the U.S.  We found a way to stop them from checking out with the products in their cart, but we would like to hide them from the customer to begin with.

I can get the ip address through ASP, and the I was planning to use the Google API to find their Country name, but I couldn't find a script that I could extract that from, not to mention I just didn't understand that.

Anyway, I need to find a small AJAX function that will get the country code based on the IP Address that I specify using:

You can download a free Geo IP database from internet, and use it to map your IP into country.

Sorry so late.  Do you know of a site that offers a GEOIP API?  I read that the databases need to be updated daily to be accurate.  This is why I was wanting to use Google API or GEOIP.com (if there's an api for it)

Personally I think you no need to update it daily, however you may do it monthly or even weekly if you wish.

I figured this out on my own, thanks.  I found a database that is updated regularly.  I just connected using Ajax and got everything I need.
