javascript function to count number of lines

Need  a javascript function to count number of lines in a text area and throw an alert whenever it crosses maximum allowed number of lines  



Here is an example input in the text area



This is line one
This is line two
This is line three
<blank line created by "Enter" key press..This is line  four >
This is line five


Whenever user tries to "Enter" next line an alert will be popped up "Max allowed number of line is 5 . You have exceeded".
