JavaScript: get textarea value where the ID is used for several items

Hi All,


I've been asked to adjust a script and am limited on what i can change.


Basically i need to get the value of a textarea.

I have the form name/id and it's the only textarea with this ID.  The ID is however used on several other items, so don't think i can reference it that way.

All suggestions welcome.

if you  can not change anything at all... the least you can do.

Do you mean it's the only form with this name/id? Or do you mean it's the only textarea in the form with that name/id?

I'm guessing it's one of the two, since you said the textarea's id was not unique.

But kadaba is right, that's not correct to have two elements with the same id.

Thanks, that worked a treat.


I know it's not the best design, but there's loads of scripts that plug into it and when i change the ID's it breaks :)
