A script combining a map and GPS coordinates.
…On a website for a small town in the south of Portugal [in an area yet unmapped],
I have a number of holiday rental villa records in a database [PHP/MySQL]. In many cases these villas do not even have addresses but are only known by their land register number. I have now started to collect the exact locations of these villas by GPS
I will make a map of the area myself by collecting waypoints, tracks and routes via my GPS receiver and software like www.gartip.de
What I would like is this;
An interactive map which, with a click on a link from the villa page, would show the position (red dot or cross) of only that individual villa in the area [calculated by UTM or lat/long coordinates.
How do I go by it?
Server is Apache.
Thanks in advance,
Steen

I second the other Matt's recommendation of MapServer. There are numerous other less (and more) heavy weight solutions available at http://freegis.org/browse.en.html?category=app&app=web_mapping
