  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. DBI Connection String

I'm trying to connect to an MS-Access database without using a system DSN connection, which
would mean doing it with a connection string. I've been looking all over the internet for information on it and I finally found the syntax for a connection string, but it doesnt seem to work. Here is the code:

# connect to the database
$dbh = DBI->connect('dbi:ODBC:driver=Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb);dbq=\\Composer\RWeb\config\databases\job_list.mdb') ||
die ("DBI Connect Failed");

Error Msg:

DBI->connect failed: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Invalid string or buffer length (SQL-S1090)(DBD: db_login/SQLConnect err=-1) at C:\Inetpub\RBA_Recruit\cgi-bin\search.pl line 36 DBI Connect Failed at C:\Inetpub\RBA_Recruit\cgi-bin\search.pl line 36.

Line 36 is the line of code that is above, and I am sure that the db is in the path specified. Does anyone have any ideas that could help??? Thanks a bunch,
