The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Asked by DRLski in Perl Programming Language

Tags: newspro

I looked at the site, but the newspro site was down.

when I do a http://testing.spclan.com/news/newspro.cgi it comes up with:

***************************

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, sp@experts-central.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/1.3.14 Server at testing.spclan.net Port 80
***************************

I looked into the server logs and this is what it said:

***************************
[Wed Jan 24 23:49:38 2001] [error] (2)No such file or directory: exec of /usr2/sp/staging_site/news/newspro.cgi failed
[Wed Jan 24 23:49:38 2001] [error] [client 192.168.0.2] Premature end of script headers: /usr2/sp/staging_site/news/newspro.cgi
***************************

Everything should be working, in fact this is what's in my httpd.conf file:

***************************

<VirtualHost *>
     ServerAdmin sp@experts-central.com
     ServerName testing.spclan.net
     DocumentRoot /usr2/sp/staging_site
     Directoryindex index.html
     <Directory /usr2/sp/staging_site/news/>
        Options ExecCGI -Indexes
        AddHandler cgi-script .pl .cgi
     </Directory>
</VirtualHost>

***************************

This is what I typed in the console to test it and this is what I get:

***************************

[root@sp /]# /usr2/sp/staging_site/news/newspro.cgi
bash: /usr2/sp/staging_site/news/newspro.cgi: No such file or directory

***************************

and I got so pissed that I actually decided to chmod all the files and directories as 777.

Please help me.
