You won't see script names as executing processes on many OS. You'd most probably see "perl" as the executable in this case.

I am trying to get the process name out of the process table,
Not the fname function some thing that will just give me the name of then process
Such as a.out, dodgy.pl
Things like that.
This is probably a very simple question
But i have try and cannot get it.

Like 'ps' command?
Try this:
@procs = map {(split(/\s+/,$_))[0]} `ps -ef -o args`;
Works fine on Solaris, but Linux has slightly different ps syntax.
