Regular Expression problem.

Hello,

I have the following snippet of code which I wrote:

$IP = "192.168.2.1";

if ( $IP =~ m/^\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}$/ )
{
    print "Valid IP. $1";
}
else
{
    print "Invalid IP. $1";
}

The regular expression works fine. However, when I print out the $1 variable nothing
is printed.

Yeah,

If someone can give me an example of successfully using Net::Whois::RIPE then they will
get the points. I cannot seem to query the person field or the address field.

There is a lot of different sample code on cpan... what code are you using.

When you say "no success", what do you get?  Do you get an error message?  What error message? Do you get the wrong data?  What data should you get, what did you get?

Hello,

I tried the following:

use Net::Whois::RIPE;

$whois = Net::Whois::RIPE->new("80.70.169.36");

$whois->no_recursive;
$whois->source('APNIC');
$whois->type('inetnum');

foreach $inet ($whois->query('80.70.169.36')) {
     print $inet->inetnum, "\n";
 }

I get the following error message:

Can't call method "inetnum" on an undefined value at test.pl line 17.

The $host parameter to the Net::Whois::RIPE->new should be the host that you are using to do lookups, not the host you want to query.

Try

#And if that doesn't work, try
$whois = Net::Whois::RIPE->new("whois.ripe.net", Debug => 1);
