What version of perl and ppm are you using?

What method did you use to install the module, command line or via the ppm gui?

If installing from the command line, what was the command you executed?

Are you pointing to the proper repositories for the perl version you have installed?

I am using perl 5.10.1
I used the GUI version of the ppm

even if i use the following command:

ppm install DateTime-TimeZone

I get the same result.

As for the repositories, yes I am pointing them to the correct version.

Ok found the problem.
I started playing around with C:/Perl/lib/ActivePerl/PPM/Package.pm file did some editing and found out that the DateTime-TimeZone package was dependent on some other packages which weren't installed. I have no idea why the dependency checker didn't see this.

After installing the dependencies one by one, I was able to install the main package, and my software requiring them is working.

Thanks for he help anyway :)

For others information I did the following:

I commented the line
push(@dunno, $p);
in the file C:/Perl/lib/ActivePerl/PPM/Package.pm
Restarted PPM-GUI (remember that if you try with console it will say nothing to install)
Tried to install the package again, and this time was shown the dependencies
Installed the dependencies
Installed DateTime-TimeZone
Re-edit the file to remove the comment

I just tested the install and I was unable to duplicate your problem.  In my case, I was missing the Class-Singleton dependency and the dependency checker did see that and installed the dependency.

Since the dependency checker didn't handle the dependency installations, it sounds like your ppm installation is corrupt.

The solution you came up with really didn't solve the root cause, it just ignored it.

I thought about a corrupt installation as well, that is why i tried by repairing the installation, and also uninstalling and reinstalling. Both didn't work.

The main cause I agree is that the dependency checker (for me) was not working properly. Maybe it has to do with my system, it is a totally fresh installation of XP-Pro SP2 (and updates disabled).

Anyway I made a hack-around for the dependency checker, and it worked :)
