Follow-up to: Parse a XML file to match string

I need to followup an earlier EE question
(http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/Scripting/Perl/Q_24838627.html)
concerning parsing a XML file with a string.

If you look at the code below for the solution, the person hard coded a string to search against the XML file.

Concerning this line of code:
for my $search (qw /2151230924@archwireless.net/) {

I need to pass a variable that's coming from a CGI form instead to be used as a string to match with the XML file.

How would I do that?
