The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help with Regular Expression cases

Asked by bemara57 in Regular Expressions, JavaScript, Perl Programming Language

I have content with propietary scripting. This content is loaded into an editor (FCKeditor), but I want to create regular expressions to tell the editor to leave the source code alone for these areas (to avoid formatting and encoding).

Below are the cases I am trying to build regular expressions for. Can someone help with creating the regex to encapsulate the 6 cases below to tell my editor to leave them alone?

1) Multi line tags enclosed by using the [[ and ]] syntax.
Example 1: [[layout:header]]
Example 2: [[ConLib:MyOrderPage HandleFailedPayments="true"]]

2) Variables are indicated by a dollar sign, and may be enclosed in curly braces.
Example 1: $User.FirstName
Example 2: Hello $User.FirstName!

3) Variables are indicated by a dollar sign, and enclosed in curly braces.
Example 1: ${variable_name}
Example 2: some_text${variable_name}some_more_text

4) Any line that begins with a # pound sign is interpreted as a line of script.
Example:

#set ($counter = 1 && $other > 25)
Currencies provided by $Store.Name:<br />
#foreach($currency in $Store.Currencies)
$counter. $currency.Name<br />
#set ($counter = $counter + 1)
#end

5)  Single line comments are created by starting a line with a ## double pound sign.
Example: ## single line comment will not be output

6) Multi line comments can also be included, by using the #* and *# syntax.
Example:

#* This is a
comment that spans
multiple lines and will
not be displayed
*#
