The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

EXPERTS EXCHANGE

There are 1000s of comments, about this error - SVCHOST.EXE

The following is my experience.

Here is the Program Error, as it appears on my computer at Start-up, in its dialog box:

svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the  program. An error log is being created.

I just close it by using Task Manager or clicking it I (It takes a few seconds to close). It does no damage as best as I can tell: but it does slow things down at Start, and needs to be closed before the computer runs, and or may mean that there is a problem somewhere unseen doing damage. I have looked online, at many articles about this issue, e g, MicroSoft. I have never seen the error log if it actually makes one - does it make one?. Yet, there are many examples of svchost.exe error hijack logs online. The error causes many different problems for others, but again, it seems minor for me.

I am unsure how to stop the error. I thought that XP Repair Pro 2007 would definitively solve this, as many other software products claim they can. It is not a virus, in this case.

My Dell GX 260 desktop computer is well maintained - and still in extended warranty. OS  - XP Home SP 2, LAN (Ethernet), ADSL2+ with IE 7 + Google. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 6, plus all the Microsoft Hotfixes and patches are current, too. I do an occasional full computer scan with XP Repair Pro 2007, Microsoft Live OneCare Safety Scanner, Dell PC Checker, so on logically.

And, the Solution is - if any?
Does it make a log (always?).
And or , is there a match to my software and or experience here, in E E too? I have a good look over time and by various search word combination too. Excuse me if so.

*THANKS
Robert
