The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How can I remove HTML formatting tags from a Javascript string variable containing the raw contents of an email body so that only the actual typed text of the email can be outputted to a new variable?

Asked by thomasjablonski in Scripting Languages, JavaScript, Exchange Email Server

I am working on building an automated support case logging process in Sage CRM in which a customer can send an email to a specified address and a case will automatically be created.  Ideally I'd like the "details" section of the case to automatically be populated with the text contained in the body of the email.  Unfortunately, when I output the data contained in the eMail.Body variable into the case.details field, it contains about 30 lines of useless html formatting tags.  As the case.details field in each record is used in automated case-related emails to both the employee or team the case is assigned to and to the sender of the email, this extra tag data is a nuisance and is unacceptable.

I see of two ways to potentially correct this:

1) A javascript function the strips the tags and outputs the clean text into a new variable... or
2) A server based POP3 client that can grab emails from a mailbox, automatically strip the tags, and send the result to a second mailbox via SMTP while keeping the sender's email address & name intact.

Any suggestions?
