Powershell string containing $

I have a Powershell script that is calling an EXE and passing a fileName from a string.  The fileName contains '$' and Powershell is converts the string "1382$001.a" to "1382.a.dgn"

Here is the code that calls the EXE:

$FilePath = "c:\temp\work"
$FileName = [System.IO.Path]::Combine($FilePath, $args[2]+".dgn")
$PDFPath  = $args[3]
$PDFFile  = [System.IO.Path]::Combine($PDFPath, $args[2]+".pdf")
#echo $FileName
#echo $PDFPath
#echo $PDFFile
if (![System.IO.Directory]::Exists($PDFPath)) {
    mkdir  $PDFPath
}
$Program ="C:\Program Files\Tailor Made Software\DgnXChange\dgnxchange.exe"
& $Program -f PDF -w 0.05 -X  -i "$FileName" -o "$PDFFile"

use single quotes or you can use the powershell escape character `

it thinks $ is part of the variable name.

Try this

$FilePath = "c:\temp\work"
$FileName = "{0}\{1}.dgn" -f $FilePath,$args[2]              # I find the -f operators works better for this.
$PDFPath  = $args[3]
$PDFFile  = "{0}\{1}.pdf" -f $PDFPath,$args[2]
#echo $FileName
#echo $PDFPath
#echo $PDFFile
if (!test-path $PDFPath)                                     # There is a built in CMDLet called Test-Path
{
    new-item $PDFPath -ItemType Directory
}
$Program =  "C:\Program Files\Tailor Made Software\DgnXChange\dgnxchange.exe"
$Program += " -f PDF -w 0.05 -X  -i $FileName -o $PDFFile"    # This adds the parameters for the Command
$Program = $Program -replace "\$",'`$'                        # This replaces the $ with `$

Your solution kinda worked, I ended up using a ` in the command line which solved the problem.
