Question

Replacing with a wildcard

I keep product details in the form of an HTML string in a database field (from a content editor) and need to pull out the details into a text string with absolutely NO HTML in there in order to poulate an XML tag to send the details to an advertiser. I have successfully got this to work using the attached code but need a way of finding &xxx; and replacing. As you will see I have done this for   and ò but I want a generic way of finding anything between & and ;  and replacing with a space.  Help please.

Why do you want to replace &ograve; with a space???
If you do not want to send UTF8 and replace the ograve with ò, then perhaps remove the accent generically

mplungjan: I don't really. It would be better to replace with a 'o' but a few small typos in the text will not be an issue whereas the script build falling over will be. Well spotted.

This will do the job nicely thanks. I'll do the stripping when the original data is entered into the database using this javascript and write the varaible value to another field in the database. I can then simply pull out the field value straight into the XML tag. Many thanks for a simple answer.
