http:// -- HyperText Transfer Protocol (I think) -- indicates what language the server & client will speak

www.domain.com -- the registered domain name.  These are mapped via DNS to an IP address.
/DocController -- the name of the script.  Usually it would end with .html, .php, .asp, .jsp etc., but some servers omit that to mask the technology being used. Theoretically that makes hacking more difficult ... but I'm not sure how much protection that actually is
?documentId=9441 -- this is the query string.  DocController will check the request variables for a variable named documentId and find out it has a value of 9441
