AspxDateEdit Init in Client-Side Event

This should be really simple but i'm having issues here..
EnableClientSideAPI = true;

I want to show the actual date when page loads.
However I'm just seeing the follow in the alert
<%= DateTime.Now.ToString() %>

How can I capture this?

function(s, e) {
	var datet = '<%= DateTime.Now.ToString() %>';
	alert(datet);

The Date() function will return what you're looking for. Check out http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_date.asp for a complete list.
