I'm not 100% it will work, but I would have thought so

Actually, try this:

request.session_options[:id]

This looks to be what other people and code are using

Hmm, try this one, this will return the session_id of the session (the long silly string)

session[:session_id]

Hmm, how strange!

That would probable imply to me that there is no session if all of the return nil.
Can you confirm the session exists?

ah, no idea what any of the means, so we'll try a simpler way ;)

try adding this into the controller for the action..

session[:test_code] = "testing123"
 
then in the view try this..

<%= session[:test_code] %>
<%= session[:session_id]%>

This is just a basic test to make sure its all working

Hi Andrew, the basic testing is passed , i.e session[:test_code] return testing123 but for <%= session[:session_id]%> returns nothing.

"inspect" method above is to "Returns a string containing a human-readable representation of obj"

Well it looks like then sessions is all working fine then, next question would be what does you sessions table look like in the DB?
did you create with "rake db:sessions:create"

Hi Andrew,

i just take a look the returns output of "inspect" above, and notice that @session_id is one if session object instance variable. Thus, I am able to get session value by session.session_id
