ar_mailer plugin

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with using ar_mailer and I was hoping that someone might have some experience with it.  I am using the plugin instead of the gem because the gem seems to have issues with 2.2.2.

I get this error when I try to send an email:

LoadError (Expected .../vendor/plugins/ar_mailer/lib/action_mailer/ar_mailer.rb to define ActionMailer::ARMailer):

The problem is that I can't see in the version of the plugin where this would be defined.

All I can find is this line and it look like it just extends ActionMailer rather than defining ActionMailer::ARMailer.

I would think this line

class ActionMailer::Base

should be:

class ActionMailer::ARMailer > ActionMailer::Base

Am I on the right track with thinking this?

You're on the right lines, look at the error..

Its expecting .../vendor/plugins/ar_mailer/lib/action_mailer/ar_mailer.rb to define ActionMailer::ARMailer

So I would say try changing that line to what its asking for :)

Thanks.  I was just guessing that since it was a piece of code publicly available via GIT I thought it would have been tested.

I made a change on the Class declaration.  I think that is what was meant to be there.

On a side note, in regards to plugins, if something is in the lib directory of a plugin structure, how is that handles internally in Rails?

I should say, how does Rails know how to load this as an override of the default ActionMailer behavior?  I am new to understanding the inner workings of plugins.

Also, is it better to use a Gem instead of a plugin?

Glad it works now!

As for the inner workings, not 100% sure about that one
For the gem vs plugin

I would go for gems, as they are maintained more, and easier to install and come by.
