Dear experts,
I am trying to make use of Gmail account in RoR applicaiton.
Everything is fine in my Windows development environment with Webrick and action_mailer_tls plugin.
However when i am deploying to the hosting -- production unix env webrick-- it returns below error (even though i had copied action_mailer_tls plugin into vendor folder in production environment).
530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. k41sm7289021rvb.4
This URL below seems to be an answer, but i had followed it, and it works in dev environment , (but not in prod) http://www.fromjavatoruby.
Would you be able to advice?

I haven't test the plugin that you are using and you must make sure that it is well maintained. I am using without problems the plugin (action_mailer_optional_tl

For installing it:
./script/plugin install http://svn.douglasfshearer
The only problem I got was using it with Ruby 1.8.7. that had to patch some lines due to incompatibility with smtp.rb.In that case http://blog.inspired.no/sm

as mentioned the plugin is working fine in my dev environment.
and if you notice the error "/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/smt
there are 2 same classes here Net::SMTP -- one located at /usr/lib/ & the other at my "vendor" action_mailer_tls.. if I don't understand wrongly I should expect Net::SMTP class that being used is the one inside vendor folder, but it seems the other way round.
Let me know your thought..

Now I am able to run in prod and make use existing smtp.rb ... by just adding the following at environment.rb
:enable_starttls_auto => true,
