The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

msiexec /x.... and getting a prompt for source path. Is there a switch that I can use in a batch file to answer?

We are in the process of upgrading to Bindview PSS DirectLogin 8.0 to 700+ (XP) machines in our Domain. I need to push out this upgrade. In my research, it seems that I have to "uninstall" the previous version and upgrade to 8.0.  I have tried using the msiexec /x (uninstall) command and a prompt comes that is looking for the .msi ("The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" error ). I wanted to push this "Silently" out as an Autoinstall or some sort of batch file, with no user intervention. The previous install was not pushed through GPO. It was pushed using a script that I do not have.

Here is the contents of the batch file. Sorry, I am very new to this and do not know scripting and am very limited in .bat

- msiexec /x "\\nt950n1\installs\Bindview\Password Self Service 7.20\BindView Password Self Service DirectLogin 7.20.msi"
OR using the uninstall string.....
- MsiExec.exe /x {28573016-7632-41D3-B77E-0C401672C2ED} /qn

Both methods prompt for the original package, which was deleted and no longer exists in the original path.

Thanks,

Larry
