Browse All TopicsI am old. When I got into computers, we called them DOS Batch Files. Nowadays they apparently call them many other things like "scripts" and "command files", etc.
Here's what I want to do:
I want to send an email from a Batch file.
If you can tell me how to send an email from the CMD prompt, that would be just as good.
I am using XP Professional.
Note: I found program called "Postie" which apparently does this. I found it comlex. I am hoping for a SIMPLE solution. I do not want to do anything fancy. I just want to add a command to my batch file that will send an email. Again, I am hoping for simple. Something I can try today and use tomorrow - low learning curve.
Thank you

I have not yet tried either of the links you specifiied in your first reply.
However, I have a question:
Will these solutions require me to install something extra, like IIS?
And a correction to my original post: I am not using XP Pro on the machine that will send the emails. I am using Windows 2000 Professional.
I beleieve the second post refers to VBScript. I am not using VBScript.
Thank you

Resolved.
itsmein sent me to a web site
http://www.robvanderwoude.
That site had a "solution", which I didn't use. However, that same site had the following section:
Command line e-mail programs
In that section was a link to MailSend.
I bought MailSend for $20.00 and it seems to be great and is supported.
You basically download the program: MailSend.exe.
You then enter (or put in a Batch file) Mailsend param1 param2 param3, etc.
And it just works. Very simple - a fully satisfactory solution (AFAICT).
Thank you.
