Question

check path for match and generate error if no match

Asked by: Zoldy2000

I have a batch file that prompts the user for a path.  I want to validate the path and error if it does not meet certain criteria.   For example in the code attached I would want to verify that the word "operations" is found in %folder% or generate an error and abort.

Thanks in advance

echo %folder% | find "operations" > nul
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" @echo Folder must contain "operations" & goto :eof

I'm adding /i to ignore case as well (so that OPERATIONS or operations will work)

echo %folder% | find /i "operations" > nul
if  "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto :OK

by: Zoldy2000Posted on 2009-07-27 at 08:15:19ID: 24952436

Please try my second post above, but (temporarily) remove this part:   > nul

 This will allow you to see what is actually in the %folder% variable.
