Modifying Registry Keys from a Batch File

I am trying to create a batch file that will change the proxy settings within Internet Explorer. The only settings that I wish to change are the:

Use Automatic Configuration Script
Use Proxy Server and the Bypass Proxy server for local address

I may also need to modify the values of these fields. If anyone knows the command needed to modify this through a batch file then it would be much appreciated

Add following statements in batch file.

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 1
 
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyServer /t REG_SZ /d "X.X.X.X:XXXX" /f
 
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v AutoConfigURL /t REG_SZ /d "http://SERVER/MyScript" /f
 
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyOverride /t REG_SZ /d "<local>" /f

Above script will change required settings for current user.

In script you need to change Proxy Server IP address and Port number on line number 3 and AutoConfigURL on line number 5.

farhankazi has offerred a clean solution for computers with the NT4 Resource Kit installed.  On newer computers such as Windows XP you can utilize "regedit" with the "/s" silent switch.

* Configure the settings manually on your computer

* Open REGEDIT and browse to
  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

* File / Export and name the file PROXY.REG

* Edit PROXY.REG by right clicking file from Windows Explorer and selectinG Edit

* Remove all lines except the following lines (values after equals will be different for you)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"ProxyEnable"=
"ProxyServer"=
"ProxyOverride"=
"AutoConfigURL"=

* From your batch file use the following command
regedit /s PROXY.REG

Another alternative is to use REGINI.EXE (similiar to REG.EXE)
