If not mistaken, when you telnet to the remote m/c on port 4212 it is prompting you for something before password.

Browse All TopicsHello all! I have been trying to put together a BASH script which uses Expect within the script. A parameter of another script gets passed to this BASH script, which then passes to the Expect script within. The problem is its not working. The parameter I beleive would get passed, but the Expect portion is failing. It seems to go into a constant loop with the second send command. It creates the stream but then tries again, and again.....never stops.

Thank you both for replying. I did find a way to finish the script within BASH, only to end up passing the wrong variable. I figured out how to pass using expect only variable (argv?) and it passes the same variable as the BASH. So I believe I am still going about it the wrong way. I am using SATGUI from www.satisoft.com . What I end up passing in either case ends up being the username I enter when I start the SATGUI server. I'm not sure what to do at this point, but I thank you both for the help.

I'd get rid of the bash wrapper and do it all in expect itself
simply convert your bash variables to tcl variables and use a hashbang line like
#!/path/to/expect -c
