Can't run CURL command from within perl script....why?

use Shell;

curl www.google.com > p.txt

for $i (1,2,3,4,5) {
print "$i\n"
}

When I run the above perl script, I get this error message:

syntax error at first.pl line 8, near "$i ("
Execution of first.pl aborted due to compilation errors.

I believe the error can be attributed to the fact that I'm trying to run the curl command from within the script. Can anyone tell me how to correct this?Start Free Trial
