How do I send a file as attachment as an email to me and cc it to a list of people using UNIX mail/mailx command

If you want to send attachments then

uuencode file | mailx -c user1@domain,user2@domain2 -s "subject of this mail"

which OS and which version of mail/mailx?

Assuming you mean a mime-type attachement by "file as attachment":
i.g. no mail or mailx can do it out of the box, you have to write a little script around mail to feed the file and make it an attachment.

Better you use another MUA like: pine, mutt, metasend, elm. ...

keep in mind that this does not use a mail with an attachment but simply a mail containing a uuencoded text

Both uuencode and mimencode are working in my Solaris unix box. Please suggests the alyernatives.

Sorry that was a typo error....UUencode and Mimencode are not working in my linux box.

"not working" is a very wide-spread description, we could imagine anything for that, for example that you simply called them the wrong way.

If you expect some help, please give the command line you use, the error message and describe the result you expected and you got.
Best you open your own question for that.
