Language and installation

I am writing a program that has the following requirement:

The application shall provide an installation utility which shall prompt the user to select a language (given 5 choices)for displaying text in BOTH the installation program and the application.

My plan for the application is to use a resource file to diplay text in the chosen language (unless convinced of a better way).  My problem arises in creating the installation.  I intended to use the setup wizard provided by VB, however, that would not include the ability for the user to choose their language.

Would the setup program (created by the wizard) be displayed in the language used on the individual PC?  Or will I have to write my own installation program that will allow the user to choose a language?  If so, is there an easy way to do this?  Please offer ideas for meeting my requirement.

I use InstallShield (so I am just stating what I've read and heard), but within VB you can alter the SETUP program "template" to suit your needs.  It is called "SETUP1.VBP".  You should be able to do what you need there.

Excelent - thank you; I had no idea you could modify the setup program.  That's great.

I started thinking about InstallShield also because that might save me all of the translations I would need if I just modified the setup program.  I don't really know anything about InstallShield except that they have an international version that might solve my problems.  Can you tell me something about your experience with it?  Is it similar to using the setup that comes with VB?  Have you used the international version?  Are the translations good?  Does it allow the user to choose a language?

Hi... I'll just post an answer, and you can just accept the answer... Thanks.  :-)

The work I have done with InstallShield has not been with anything other than English, but I know that I can change to other languages with just a quick option setting.  There are demos of InstallShield out there (I believe - I have one on CD).
