The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Deploying Active X Document

Asked by teberhardt in Visual Basic Programming, Microsoft Programming, ActiveX

I am developing a system using a Visual Basic Activex Document exe for the college I attend and development is nearing completion.  I have been attempting to deploy the package to the web server and actually have the project running from the development computer.  I initially deployed the package to my desktop and then transferred the package to the web folder via WS_FTPPro.  The program runs, but if I try to access the program from another computer that does not have the vb runtime module loaded, it will not run properly.  I have included the vb runtime module as part of the package.  When I do try to run it on another computer, I get a download message.

Also, I have developed multiple web pages to be used as a menu system for the project.  I am using a test project that is a smaller chunk of the actual project, yet contains all of the necessary objects required for deployment of the entire system.  The first screen for the system is a login screen.  If I use Hyperlink.Navigateto in the login screen to go to one of the HTML menus, the system ceases to run and I get a download message when I click on one of the menu links on the HTML page.  The obvious choice would be to create menus within the system for each security level (There are 7 security levels.), but I do not know how to achieve this in an Activex Document.

I need a detailed description on how to package and deploy this application.  I already know the general steps necessary and know how to use the package and deployment wizard for most other types of deployments.

I would very much appreciate help on how to achieve a successful deployment.  Thanks to whomever can help!

Sorry that I don't have more points to offer, but I am still a student and can not amass a lot of points for I am not yet an expert.
