The Solution Rating System

  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. OLEDB + data environment Install Problem

Hi.
I'm using a Install Shield Express 2.13 to install my VB6 app. The app is quite large, and uses some data environments and reports.
Because I need to create a temp DB I'm also using ADOX.
So far so good. Everything works well on my development machine (in the VB development app and from the exe).
After I install the thing on a win98, win nt sp6 or w2k, when I ran the app I get a object error and the apps crashes.
I tried to install dataacc.exe, and mdac_typ251. No help.
The program crashes the minute I try to access my data environment (even using a debug msgbox, just printing it's connection string). The ADOX code however is working perfectly.
I'm using OLEDB4 as my connection string (Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=c:\temp\temp.mdb) but the same error occurs with 3.51 version neither.
I tried to create a variable with the data environment as the data-type but that failed as well.
One more thing. When I create the dynamic table using ADOX, I can't supply the data type for the fields. Only the default work (I tried adChar, adVarChar). Might be important.
