BeauT is right... you may use Microsoft Text Driver (I assume you are using text database e.g. generated by COBOL or other text exporter.

Yes - if the generated dat file is an ODBC compliant data source. Otherwise, you may want to create a custom interface to the recordset. Can oyu provide anymore information about the DB's schema or the data being provided in the DB?
