How can I load the list of program names into a textbox?
And directly into a string variable: (example)

Cheers...
I'll try that
Do i REALLY need all of those API calls, or can i trim it down a bit?

by: deepsmegPosted on 2001-11-15 at 07:47:29ID: 6635732

I got division by 0 error...

by: deepsmegPosted on 2001-11-15 at 07:51:44ID: 6635741

sorry, that was my fault...
I'm getting type mismatch errors now
Here's what i'm calling it with:

Private Sub Command1_Click()
Text1 = GetAllKeys(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, "\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall")

End Sub

I usually use names properly, but this was a quick test ;)

by: anthonycPosted on 2001-11-15 at 08:27:07ID: 6635886

The function returns an array of strings!  You can then parse the array of strings to put them into a textbox

dim szValue() as string

szValue = GetAllKeys(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, "\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall")

szText = vbNullstring
for i = lbound(szValue, 2) to ubound(szValue, 2)
  szText = szText & vbcr & szValue(0,i)
next i

text1.text = szText

I ran this function, and noticed it struggles with subkeys.  It works on subvalues.  I could swear it worked before.

Here is better code to do what you want.  Also, you do not need to have the \ before Software.  Use the same API

Sorry to be a pain, but could you send me a copy of a frm with the code in, as it needs much work done on it after c&p from EE...

cheers

It shouldn't take any work... cut/paste is easy from EE.  However, this is not part of a form.  It's part of a library I have working with the registry.  I can send that.
