guys how can i search for a duplicate number or name in ADO so that i the user cannot add duplicate numbers?

What data access are you going to use? (Ado, DAO or some exotic engine?).
Assuming ADO:
Add a record: rsYourResultSet.Addnew
Edit a record: rsYourResultSet.Fields("Fi
Delete a record: rsYourResultSet.Delete
Search a record: rsYourResultSet.Find "fieldname=" & value
Um.. sparse? Yes, but you didn't provide alot of information to begin with.
