Question

VB.net - System.Security.SecurityException

Asked by: EYoung

Basics:  VB.Net, Windows 2000.

I have posted this question before and no comments have helped.  As this is becoming a real problem here at work, I would appreciate some specific support as to how to solve this error.  Here is the link to the previous question:  http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Visual_Basic/Q_20643693.html

Specifically, I have developed a vb.net application that reads records from a MS SQL table and displays the results on a form.  A very simple application.  The application runs great from my development computer and from the user's computers - when installed on those computers).  However, when I copy the .exe to a mapped network drive and try to run it from that location, I get the following error:  "An exception 'System.Security.SecurityException' has occurred in Financial Business Manager.exe."  (The Financial Business Manager is the application name.)  I need to run it from a mapped network drive because of the large number of users accessing this application.

One of the previous suggestions was to run the MS .Net Framework Configuration program to "Increase Assembly Trust".  I did that and gave the .exe full rights and unlimited access, but the same error continues to occur.  I think the problem may be due to my vb.net application having a problem in the code and not with security rights on the mapped drive - but not sure about that.

I have written many VB 6.0 applications over the years that all run great from the same mapped network drive.  However, this is my first VB.net application and I am getting pretty frustrated with the VB.net peculiarities.  I would really appreciate the help.

Below are the messages I get when I debug the app after it aborts.  Hope these help.  Maybe the problem has to do with the message - "No symbols loaded".  However, it does run on my development computer so I give up.  Please help.
